Streszczenie: For several decades, John Paul II (JP2) played an important role in Polish society as a religious and moral authority. The perception of his teaching and activity differs across age groups. The study aimed to analyze the perception of JP2 and his teaching among university students (aged 19–28) and young adults (aged 29–35) in Poland (n = 1500), with special focus on the relationship between different sources of knowledge about the pope and the appraisal of his significance for personal life, faith, and attitude to the Catholic Church (CC). The CC and family remain the dominant sources of knowledge about JP2 in the older group, while younger respondents acquire information mainly from the media and peers, which leads to a more critical evaluation of his pontificate. The results suggest revising JP2's message to better fit the changing religious patterns in a pluralised society.
