Research Interests

Her major research interests include morphology and its interfaces with other grammatical components, in particular deverbal nominalisations and adjectivisations, lexicology, English, Celtic and Slavic languages. She is a specialist in morphology with particular focus on aspect, esp. aspect in Slavic and nominalisations in English, Polish and Irish (as representing distinct branches in the Indo-European family of languages). She published two monographs on nominalisations where nominal and verbal aspect featured prominently (Polyfunctionality in Morphology – a Study of Verbal Nouns in Modern Irish (2006, Lublin, Wydawnictwo KUL), The mechanics of transposition. A study of action nominalisations in English, Irish and Polish. (2013 Lublin: Wydawnictwo KUL)). In the most recent monograph a proposal has been put forward that the system of aspectual distinctions in the verbal domain has a bearing on aspect realisation in action nominalisations. She also investigated the infection-derivation continuum with special emphasis on inherent inflectional categories of nouns and verbs. She edited and co-edited a number of collections of papers: Perspectives on Celtic Languages (2009), Modules and Interfaces (2012), Concepts and structures (2015), New trails and beaten paths in Celtic studies (2016), Aspect and valency in nominals (2017).  She is passionate about the Irish language and culture, as evidenced by the activities of the Department of Celtic Studies at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, of which she is head (i.e. Lublin Studies in Celtic Languages book series, bi-annual Lublin Celtic Colloquium conference, Celtic Day – a popular event organized annually, 'Understanding Ireland' open lecture series).
