Streszczenie: The functioning of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland in democratic and pluralistic conditions encounters many difficulties and reveals many problems that, in the era of mediatization of the public sphere and the mediatization of religion, lead to manifestations of a cancel culture. It comes from the American society and culture, and its development has followed the increase in the reach and importance of digital media, including social media. The Roman Catholic Church has lost its position as the only and dominant institution of social influence in Europe, and it is also losing it in Poland. The analysis of the process of religious communication allows us to conclude that democratic conditions force religious actors and leaders of church life to have an equal position next to other entities and institutions, but there are also activities of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland, which contributed to the manifestations of the cancel culture in relation to it. The reasons for the internal and external manifestations of the cancel culture in relation to the Roman Catholic Church are: involvement in current politics, sexual abuse of clergy, progressive loss of social influence, attempts to maintain a privileged position in society, the growing importance of secular ethics - contrary to Christian anthropology.
