Streszczenie: The article is a comparative study on the concept of the theater of Karol Wojtyła and Emil Zegadłowicz. Although many works are devoted to the youthful literary output and theatrical activity of Wojtyła, the themes of theater studies are still not fully analyzed. Therefore, it seems important to try to direct the research reflection on the sources from which both artists drew, ones that shaped their poetic sensitivity, their concept of man and their concept of the world externalized in the structure of dramatic works, inscribed in the theatrical thought and views on the mission of art and actor. An exploring attempt to compare the compositions of Zegadłowicz's and Wojtyła's early plays points to the common roots of perception of the role of theater and a model of dramaturgy arising from traditional, mystery-morality plays. Similar trends and areas of artistic penetration, comprehension of aesthetic canons of art and the value of regional culture are also visible, while the worldview and creativity of both artists are separate.
