Streszczenie: The Austrian organization Observatory on intolerance and discrimination against Christians in Europe is an institution that records instances of intolerance, discrimination and persecution of Christians. The article analyses a selection of cases illustrating such actions taken against the Christian faithful in European media and in contemporary art. The analysis of the cases at hand shows that media content available in the press, on television and on the Internet does not only represent a form of media or artistic provocation against Christianity, but it also constitutes a form of profanation of the Christian sacred in the public and symbolic spaces. The cases under analysis exhibit the use of the mechanism of stereotyping, which may result in attitudes of aversion, marginalisation, dehumanisation, decomposition of cultural resources and even criminal actions against Christians in Europe
