Streszczenie: In Western culture, the rondeau is a poetic and musical genre with a long tradition. During the age of Romanticism, there is a close interaction between literature and music: mutual inspiration, collective works, common topics, and attempts to translate one art into the other, including musical form into literature and vice versa. The poetical and musical French rondeaux, which I study in this chapter, constitute a perfect example of such interaction. Inspired by each other, poets and composers came up with new artistic inventions, such as hybrid forms combining the rondeau with variations or other genres.
