Streszczenie: The paper analyzes the literary structure of 1 En. 72:8–32, which contains numerical data about the changing duration of the nychthemeron within the structure of the 364-day year. The literary unit is divided into 12 parts, each devoted to one month of the schematic year. The central part of each month provides the reader with information about the changing length of day and night expressed in ‟parts” of the nychthemeron. Separate schematic clauses add information about the changing length of the nychthemeron. In verse 27, the literary pattern has been disrupted by a redactional insertion concerning the change in the sun's motion at the winter solstice. The schematic clauses containing the length of the nychthemeron have been studied against the background of two Babylonian texts: Tablet BM 17175+17284 and Table C of Tablet XIV of the Enūma Anu Enlil astrological series. The redactional insertion in v. 27 has been compared with MUL.APIN II i 17, which contains the same information about the sun, but in a different terminology. The relationship between Babylonian schematic astronomy and chapter 72 of 1 Enoch demonstrates the process of appropriation, reinterpretation, and modification of schematic astronomical knowledge of Babylonian origin.
